Abstract
Nanostructured SiC have been fabricated by pyrolysis of rice husks (RHs) in argon atmosphere. XRD patterns and FTIR spectra indicate that all the silica contained in RHs reacted to form SiC when pyrolyzed at 1600 degree centigree for 2h.The SiC obtained on the bodies of pyrolyzed rice husks(RHs) were mainly composed of nanoparticles having diameters of 70-200nm. Whiskers were obtained on the epidermis and graphite crucible inner epidermis. Nanostructured SiC obtained by this method showed good blue light emission properties. Furthermore, the SiC whiskers obtained have a better optical performance.
