Abstract
Colorless transparent titanate aqueous solution (TNB-TMAOH) was prepared by direct reaction of titanium tetra-n-butoxide (TNB) with tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAOH). In the present work, low temperature synthesis of barium titanate (BaTiO3), starting from a mixture of TNB-TMAOH + aqueous barium compound solution, was studied. We found that BaTiO3 particles were prepared by heating the mixture aqueous solution adjusted at pH 13.5 of TNB-TMAOH and Ba(OH)2 at even the low temperature of 50oC for 10 h. in a well-closed bottle. XRD results showed that barium carbonate was recognized at low synthesis temperature (<100oC) and it disappeared at synthesis temperature over 100oC.
