Abstract
We report facile exfoliation of 2D nanosheets from Ti3SiC2. Currently the most voraciously researched 2D material-graphene is an exceedingly simple system. Our work opens up new horizon to the research in complex 2D materials in the group of layered hexagonal ternary carbides and nitrides - MAX phases. The alkaline extraction technique optimized at ambient conditions is benign to the environment. TEM characterizations reveal distinct individual layers of nanosheets.
