Abstract
There is an increasing demand for SiC components with large size and complicated shape, and one important method of manufacturing these components is by joining SiC sintered parts using various joining techniques. In this work, Si-SiC ceramic parts were joined by a reactive sintering method based on outward diffusion of Si. Mechanical properties of the joined parts were evaluated. The joined Si-SiC parts exhibit high flexural strength without any serious deterioration by heating.
