Abstract
Thin film with one-dimensional oxide nanomaterials has attracted extensive interest due to their importance in basic scientific research and potential technological applications. Here, we report our bio-inspired strategies for silica/titania thin film with tunable surface nanostructure on arbitrary substrates, with the silica/titania mineralization occurring in aqueous media under room temperature with a high rate (i.e. 10 min). Linear polyethyleneimine (LPEI) shows the unique ability to self-assemble into nanostructured matrix layer on the substrates, which acts as biomimetic template to give nanotextured oxide films. Following modification of the oxides films with low-surface energy compound resulted in super-liquid-repelling silica nanosurface and photoresponsive titania nanosurface.
