CdSe-related quantum dots (QDs) are expected to be used for various applications. We have prepared several thin-glass coated QDs by changing their preparation conditions. When the amount of QDs is optimized, the surface is uniformly coated by glass-layer. This is related to the surface silanization of the QDs. This silanization affects the stability of the QDs, and is probably related to the size of QD assembly when they are transferred to water phase.
