Abstract
Zinc oxide (ZnO) is known to be a widegap semiconductor exhibiting green phosphorescence. The bandgap energy can be extended by the formation of ZnO-MgO solid solution so as to blueshift visible phosphorescence. However, Mg solubility is limited to be about 4% in solid-state reaction. In this study, we prepared Zn1-xMgxO nanocrystals to pyrolyze Zn-Mg oxalic salts synthesized by a hydrothermal method. And here we shall report the influence of Mg doping on the crystal structure and optical properties (optical bandgap and PL).
