Abstract
Siloxane-containing vaterite/poly(lactic acid) composites with cotton-like structure were prepared with a modified electrospinning method. Compressing and heating treatments were performed to the cotton-like structures to control their fiber densities. MC3T3-E1 cells were seeded onto the composite materials at a density of 5.0x104 cells/ml. Proliferation of the cells on the cotton-like structures was superior to that on the fibermat. The cotton-like structured composite is expected to be useful for bone tissue engineering.
