Abstract
Various mesoporous silica and titania thin films on substrates were prepared by a sol-gel technique. Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were then deposited in the mesopores by chemical reduction, UV irradiation, or heat treatment methods. Electron microscope observations showed that GNPs of various shapes were formed in the films.
