Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) was established as the standard treatment for colorectal tumors which enable en bloc resection regardless of tumor size, shape or fibrosis in submucosal layer. However, performing ESD is technically difficult, thus leaving with risk of complication such as perforation or bleeding. To perform ESD safely, several traction methods were invented.
In this patient we performed ESD for a 30 mm 0-Is tumor at ascending colon using new endoscopic lifting device LA-400-01 (Flex Lifter). The device is equipped with grasping forceps which could adjust traction point to pull submucosal layer toward the endoscopic attachment cap. This traction improves recognition of submucosal layer, resulting in safer procedure.
Using this device, a trainee endoscopist completed ESD procedure without any complications. We report a colorectal ESD case in which Flex Lifter was useful, along with some previous reports.
