Peroral cholangioscopy is a useful examination method, as it enables direct observation of the lesion and biopsy. Our hospital introduced SpyGlass DS (Boston Scientific), a new peroral cholangioscope in 2016. We report our experience with 14 cases wherein SpyGlass DS was used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes between September 2016 and January 2018, retrospectively. The objectives were diagnostic in 8 cases, therapeutic in 3 cases of bile duct stone, and 3 cases of confirmation of bile duct calculus. Bilious intubation with the Spyglass DS was possible in all the cases. The median procedure time was 45.5 minutes, and the clinical success rate was 92.2%. Papilla hemorrhage occurred in one patient but was reduced with clipping and hypertonic saline-epinephrine injection. We intend to continue gathering cases and studying treatment outcomes, complications and more.
