The question how we get to know the first principles of demonstrations seems to be the most crucial in APο. Most of the scholars regard [noes] as Aristotle's answer to it. However, [nous] actually is not the mental faculty by which we get to know the first principles, but is [hexis] in which we know them; that is the definite state of person which is actualized when he/she gets to know them. Then how can we know them? There is no other way than to put our scientific enterprises into practice. The actualization of [nous] depends upon our carrying through them.
