Abstract

Photoinduced charge separation proceeds at the interface between gold or silver nanoparticles and TiO2. Electron transfer from plasmon-excited metal nanoparticles to TiO2 is responsible for the charge separation. Localized electric fields (optical near fields) around the nanoparticles induce or promote the electron transfer.
