Abstract
Pictorial imaging with silver halide materials is, and will be into the 21st century, the media of choice for high quality, cost effective consumer imaging. Electronic imaging is a fast-growing capability particularly in motion imaging and, as already seen in professional, commercial and motion picture photography, has a synergistic relationship with silver halide image capture and reproduction. There are many unanswered questions as to how the consumer will use all the imaging capability available in the future but the opportunities to broaden imaging generally are very large.
