Abstract

Why silver ions in the superionic α-AgI are highly mobile is reviewed and discussed, together with sublattice melting and low-energy excitation which are quite characteristic in superionic conductors, based on the quadrupolar deformability proposed by Fisher et al and Kleppmann-Weber's theory.Comparative understanding of silver-halides AgF, AgCI, AgBr and AgI is also made on the same basis.
