We report experimental results on a large increase of sensitivity over a long period of time after exposure in silver chloride emulsion grains doped with Ir3+ A mechanism is proposed for the phenomena on the basis of kinetic data obtained from ESR measurements and sensitivity studies. The delayed formation of latent image occurs through electrons thermally ejected from silver atoms formed in adjacent to iridium ions.
