Abstract
In this research, we present a system framework to construct a facial digital phantom which considers the spatially varying subsurface scattering characteristics of human skin using a new hybrid method which combines both image-based and model-based methods. Images of a subject's face is captured using a digital camera and based on these images, the 3D model of the face is acquired. The spatially varying subsurface scattering parameters of skin pigments, melanin and hemoglobin, are estimated from an image and using these data, the facial digital phantom is constructed.
