On I and J Blood Factors

Abstract

I blood factor has no connection with C(Rh'), D(Rh₀), E(Rh") blood factors which are subtypes of Rh blood group. I-positive gene is inherited dominant against I-negative gene. We found a new incomplete antibody in the serum of a mother who habitually repeated abortions, and provisionally we called it anti-J antibody. The frequency among Japanese of this new blood factor which reacts with anti-J antibody is 23.75%, and J-positive gene is inherited dominant against J-negative. We want to have opportunities to examine the relations of I and J blood factors to S (6)-s(7), Lewis (Le^a, Le^b) (8), Kell (K) (9)- Cellano (k) (10), Lutheran (Lu^a) (11), Duffy (Fy^a) (12), Kidd (Jk^a) (13), Pluym (14), Jobbins (15), Jay (Tj^a) (16), Miltenberger (Mi^a) (17), Levay (18), Gr (19) and other blood factors which have been reported one after another in Europe and America.
