1) The liver arginase activity is reduced in tumor-bearing animals parallel to the growth of implanted tumor.
2) An “arginase reducing factor” which when injected into the peritoneal cavity of experimental animals will reduce the liver arginase activity can easily be demonstrated not only in the Brown-Pearce rabbit carcinoma and Kato rabbit sarcoma, but also in the urines of patients with cancer, independent of its site, but not in cases of benign diseases.
3) Some physical properties of the arginase factor in the urines were noted.
