Abstract
As described in a previous paper, the two new bile acids with m.p. 280-282° (decomp.) and 248° (decomp.) were obtained as the degradation products of cholic acid using Actinomyces No. 1164. The structure of the former, m.p. 280-282° (decomp.), is discussed and it is concluded that the acid possesses probably the structure of Δ4, 9(11)7-hydroxy-3, 12-diketobisnorcholadienic acid.
