Abstract

The specific relationships among Papilio paris, P. bianor, P. maackii and P. polytes are examined based on chromosome pairing at first meiosis of F1 hybrids. At the 1st meiosis of the F1 from P. bianor×P. paris, 60 bivalent chromosomes were observed. Chromosomally they may be tetraploid. In view of genie homology, the systematic relationships between P. bianor, P. polyctor, P. maackii, P. paris, and P. polytes are discussed.
