Abstract
All phosphate glasses genetically contain a certain amount of residual water. The broad absorption bands of water in the IR region about 3,0 μm are well known. This paper presents decomposition of 2 broad integral absorption bands (the broader and complicate one at about 3000 cm-1 and the stronger and stabler one at about 2300 cm-1) in phosphate glasses into 8 components. The investigation was carried out on vitreous metaphosphates of metals of the I-II Groups of thePeriodical System (Li, Na, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba) and ultraphosphate CaO 2P2O5. All the Gaussian bands show high stability of their position and dispersion for all the cations, but the ratio of the bands intensities differ remarkably for various samples.
