Abstract
Zinc ultraphosphate glass, containing 11.2 weight % of hydroxyl groups was obtained by melting H3PO4 and ZnO at 900°C during 1 hour. This glass presents a bulk protonic conductivity under argon atmosphere and a surface protonic conductivity of electrolytic type under moist air. In this latter case, the glass reacts irreversibly with water, that forms an acidic surface solution of phosphates, with a high conductivity.
