Abstract

The storm surge, that main driving force was Ekman transportation by strong intensity of low pressure system, occurred on all of the Ibaraki coasts in Japan., in October 2006. This article shows survey results of the situation and the disaster by the storm surge. In addition, the distribution of components of tides that are astronomical tide, wind setup with setup by Ekman transportation, wave setup, meteorological tide along the all of the Ibaraki coast was hindcasted by use of numerical simulation. Based on these learning of the survey and the calculation, disaster prevention methods are made sure and proposed for low frequency area of storm surges.
