CENTRAL PINE BARRENS TDR PROGRAM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

Abstract

A TDR program designed to protect eco systems as well as aquifers in the Central Pine Barrens, Long Island was studied in this paper for the purpose of organizing both advantages and disadvantages of TDR programs for environmental conservation. The findings show that TDR program could be a practical tool for conserving natural environment in urban fringes when used with other conservation methods such as land acquisition by public sectors and land use regulations.
