Abstract
This article discusses how the rock music fans in China position themselves in the translation process. It also analyzes how fan translators participate in rock music fan culture in China. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four rock music fan translators, and two are selected for analysis. The languages translated are English-Chinese and Japanese-Chinese, and both of the fan translators use the text of a specific artist or band as source text. From the narrative of fan translators, three aspects are extracted and analyzed: the selection of ST, the choice of translated words, the sharing of TT and the audience. As a result, the two fan translators present different position, at the same time participating in and constructing rock fan culture in China in different ways.
