Abstract
The aim of this study is to discuss experimentally how the breaking limit, breaker type and broken wave characteristics are changed by the scale ratio of wave and submerged structure. It is shown that the breaking limit and breaker type are independent of B/Li for B/Li>0.5 and that the breaker type is classified into spilling, spilling-plunging and double breakers with increasing of Hi/R. Energy dissipation due to wave breaking becomes much larger with an increment of B/Li and D/h. It is also found that the steady flow generates a circulation at the onshoreside of the structure.
