Abstract
Long-term changes of the Ishikawa coast were investigated. Geological study shows that seawardslope of the sand dunes developing on this coast has been eroded, judging from the exposure of the peat layer, which was originally formed in the wetland behind the sand dune, on the present sandy beach. The cause of the erosion was considered to be due to the large-scale reduction process of the Tedori River delta. A model to qualitatively explain this change is proposed.
