Abstract
The Ishikari Bay New Port is located at a distance of 15km from the central partof Sapporo City, which is largest consumer market in Hokkaido. The favorable location, together with the fully arranged port facilities and road network, provide a lot of benefits to business activities. On the other hand, the region of Ishikari River has many peoples, many factories, and so on, and is the main part of Hokkaido.
In this paper, we discuss the benefit of reductions for transportation and distribution costs by shifting thetransportation route from roads to Ishikari River.
