Nerinea cf. wsurgis is a well known Nerinea in Japan-so far as known and was first described by NAUMANN and NEUMAYR from the Torinosu-limestone developed at Torinosu, Togano-mura, Takaoka-gun, Koti-ken. Specimens thought to belong to this form, which were derived from the type locality and stored in the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Tohoku Imperial University comprise two different types. As stated in the Japanese text, both types may be easily distinguishable from N. visurgis from the Upper Jurassic of the Northern Germany. One has smooth flanks of the whorls, while the other is characterized by the presence of two tuberculated hands; new names, naurnanni and naumanni neumayri are here given respectively, the former seems to be more common in the Torinosu-limestone developed at Torinosu and its neighbours than the latter.
