A study for Mechanical/Electrochemical Complex Machining System and technology with Ion-Control

Abstract

The prototype of a desktop machine tool with ion-control capability has been developed in this study. This small size machine tool can change machining liquid resistance automatically by ion-controlling. In this paper, the specifications and functions of the machine tool are introduced. In order to apply to the machine tool, complex machining process that is combination of electrical and mechanical processes is developed. 16μm width groove is machined by a complex machining process combining ECM and cutting.
