Development of aspherical micro lens array mold for optical communications by ultraprecision cutting

Abstract

In optical interconnection, in order to raise joint efficiency, the highly precise micro lens is called for. In this development, it made it possible to create the aspherical micro lens array mold for optical communications by using the small diameter ball end mill processing by ultraprecision cutting. In this report, it explains the processing method, and reports the pitch accuracy between lenses and the lens form accuracy of the created micro lens array mold.
