Abstract
Virtual CMM (proposed by PTB) is an uncertainty estimation method of coordinate measurement. We compared uncertainties of ball–plate measurement by swing–round method by Virtual CMM and conventional error budget method. As a result, Virtual CMM can estimate uncertainty of each sphere position easily, and the uncertainty is relatively smaller than the one by conventional method. This result shows that Virtual CMM may potentially suppress over estimation usually done by conventional method.
