Abstract
This study deals with size reduction and improvement of an in–pipe movable mechanism for long curved hole machining system. Curved holes are desirable to improve the arrangement of the water channels built in a mold. To establish a curved hole machining method, the authors devised the long curved hole machining system which employs an in–pipe movable mechanism and have developed the mechanism of 10mm in diameter. However, its machining holes are winding since its electrode supporting structure is unsatisfactory. Therefore, new in–pipe movable mechanism is developed, which the structure is improved. From the experimental results, it is found that the new mechanism can fabricate a straight hole.
