Abstract
In this research, the configuration of an autonomous decentralized manufacturing system using machine tool agents is proposed. The proposed system can accommodate high–mix, very–low–volume production, and provide flexibly to adjust to sudden failures. This report discusses how to compose the machine tool agent and how to imperilment the machine tool agent. The machine tool agent uses a machine tool model in order to model its ability and specification. The process planning is done using the machine tool model and the target product model. Through communication among machine tool agents, the execution schedule for each machine tool is decided dynamically. The effectiveness of structuring a manufacturing system based on machine tool agents is determined through the simulation.
