Abstract
Micro Turning System (MTS) series are super small precision CNC (computer numerical control) machine tools for exclusively machining micro-parts. This report describes examples of cutting of small-diameter-pin that has high aspect ratio in the micro-parts. A machine tool used for the cutting is "MTS4R", and this machine tool has a spindle which maximum speed is 20,000 min-1. The spindle is consisted of a 260W built-in AC servo motor and two angular ball bearings that are high precision type. As a result, graphite was turned into a 10 micro meter diameter for 200 micro meters (aspect ratio was 20), C3604 (brass) was turned into a 100 micro meter diameter for 15,000 micro meters (aspect ratio was 150) and SK4 was turned into a 300 micro meter diameter for 20,000 micro meters (aspect ratio was 67).
