Abstract
In micro-EDM, the vibration assistance improves the machining stability and results in an extreme reduction of the machining time without increasing tool electrode wear and surface roughness. In this study, we have applied the vibration assisted EDM to the fabrication of thin rectangular shafts which are used for micro-stamp out machining. The validity of vibration machining has been shown, because ordinary micro-EDM processes which uses rotating mandrel cannot be used for rectangular shaft machining.
