Abstract
This study deals with development of a new control method of curved hole machining device. To optimize the shape and arrangement of water channels built in a mold, it is strongly required to establish a curved hole machining method. Therefore, the authors have developed devices to machine curved holes with electrical discharge machining. The latest device can fabricate long curved holes. However, it cannot fabricate an intended curved hole since the method to arbitrarily control the device is not established. To solve the problem, the study has devised the control method by means of teaching playback. From the results of machining experiments applied the method, an intended long curved hole can be fabricated. In addition, to enhance the shape controllability of curved hole, the study has improved the mechanism of the device and can achieve fabrication of a curved hole with a large curvature.
