Providing supports to the human worker based on his intention can effectively increase assembly efficiency while reduce worker's load. Human intention can be judged through human gestures easily. Due to the worker's assembly characteristics and the assembly environment, it is difficult to use cameras to recognize human gesture only detecting on the skin color. In this paper, a template-based gesture recognition method is proposed to recognize human gestures. The results show that using this method, human gestures can be recognized easily and the success rate is high.
