Abstract
The objective of this study is to develop a system to determine optimal machining conditions for minimizing energy consumed in a machine tool. To realize this objective, a module to estimate cutting energy and energy consumed in each unit of a machine tool is developed. Cutting energy in square end milling and ball end milling is estimated by the cutting force which can be derived from the cutting area and the specific cutting force. And, energy consumed in each unit of a machine tool is calculated by the electric energy model defined with basic experiments.
