Online rescheduling in Shunting Scheduling Problems

Abstract

Shunting scheduling problems in railway stations can be regarded as a kind of job-shop scheduling problems. But unlike standard job-shop scheduling, shunting scheduling problems have several constrains related to the physical layout of rails and stations. In this paper, we propose a new rescheduling method that can quickly deal with schedule disturbances, such as delays of train arrivals, by combining message passing approach.
