Abstract
Machining status monitoring system using internal sensors has been developed. However, in conventional ball-screw driving machining center with slide or rolling guide ways, it seems to be difficult that the cutting force in stationary axis direction. Moreover, air-cutting was needed before monitoring of cutting force in moving axis direction. In the present study, we evaluated the monitoring performance using internal sensors in a linear motors driving machining center with hydrostatic guide ways. As a result, the cutting force was monitored with high precision and resolution in not only moving but also stationary axis direction with out pre-air-cutting.
