Abstract
Natural fiber is paid attention as an environmentally superior material. It is known that a bamboo fiber has high strength like a glass fiber. However, it is difficult to extract high quality bamboo fiber using conventional methods such as crushing, shearing, steam explosion, and swelling. Therefore, an extraction method of bamboo fibers end-milled from bamboo using a machining center with in-situ measurement is proposed in the present study. End-milling conditions and tool path was decided based on in-situ measurement result. As a result, it was shown that bamboo fibers with high precision shape could be acquired efficiently.
