Abstract
The heat generated in the cutting process raises the temperatures of the tool, work, machine tool and so on, and causes many troubles such as the tool wear-out and damage. In this study, a technique with the infrared camera was proposed for the monitoring of machining state, in which the temperature of the cutting tool and the cutting force were measured when cutting conditions are changed. The measured results of temperature were compared with the results of cutting force simultaneously measured. As a result, it was clarified that the temperature of the tool showed same change as the cutting force.
