Abstract
Step gauge is a useful artefact for checking the positioning accuracy of CNC machine tools and the CMM with probing system, even the laser interferometer system becomes commonly be used in the machine shop. However, it is difficult to achieve the good stability due to its sensitive assembly process. Solid construction step gauge has no such fault, but it was hardly produced commercially due to its difficult manufacturing process. This research describes development of a solid construction gauge manufacturing system that include on machine accuracy checking system. As a result of the trial production, it can manufacture the gauge with less than 1-micrometer error at 1m.
