Abstract
In an ultrasonically forced insertion(USFI) process, to clarify the mechanism of reduction of press–fit force, frictional force, frictional stress and displacement on the contact surface of a metal rod and a metal plate were simulated by a large deformation analysis using a finite element method (ANSYS Inc.). Under the conditions of the start and limit of a USFI process, axial displacement and radial displacement on the contact surface were simulated. As the result, the reduction of frictional stress, and the contact and separation between the rod and plate with a hole expansion were confirmed.
