Abstract
Although there seem to be signs of an economic recovery, compared with the rapidly growing economies in China and Southeast Asia, the local economy remains depressed. One of the important roles of Colleges of Technology is to contribute to fostering engineers who use their creativity to develop technology, so that they will become leaders in the industrial world. At the same time, career education must be designed to produce practical results for those students who feel worried about their own prospects and the economic situation. However, since a repeater student's motivation to studies is lower than an active student's one, practice of career education is difficult. In this research, the student-assisted teaching of delivery lecture and open class (hereafter TA) has been introduced as one of the methods for increasing a repeater student's motivation and the effectiveness of TA was investigated, using a ten-year follow-up. As a result, the TA activity proved effective not only in enhancing students' motivation and fostering their creativity, but also in raising their awareness of their future as engineers who can see situations from the point of view of other people.
