Abstract
A system to generate woodgrain patterns such as real natural wood by simulating tree growth have been developed, in order to meet the demand for generation of woodgrain patterns by digital technology. However, consideration of organizational structure inside a tree is required, in order to generate woodgrain patterns with more detail and variety. In this study, expression of the shade peculiar to woodgrain patterns is tried, by modeling grain orientation inside a tree and correlating it with reflection property of light on a wood surface. The validity of this method was verified by developing execution system.
