Abstract
The jet flow cooling system is used for effectively cooling in part of casting mold. It has a good performance to the prevention to the development of casting defects such as a galling and burning. The present study was evaluated of the solidification properties through casting test that was installed a jet flow cooling pipe. Al-Mg-Si alloy was used for casting material. The heat transfer coefficient was estimated via inverse analysis through computer simulation based on the experimental results such as cooling rate and thermal analysis curve. There was a difference of the solidification structure and the cooling rate due to the difference of the fluid flowing through cooling pipe. In addition, there were the difference in the solidification properties due to the distance between the tip of cooling pipe and bottom of cooling pin. The estimation value of heat transfer coefficient at distance between the tip of cooling pipe and bottom of cooling pin of 21mm was approximately 10.5kW/m2K.
