Abstract
Micro-needle is a micron size needle which can insert into our skin and realize painless drug delivery. Micro-needle has attracted much attention in the past years due to its wide-spread using for transdermal drug delivery. In addition, its ability of penetrating into the skin in a minimally-invasive and painless method shows the attractive application potential. The conventional fabrication methods of micro-needle, such as micro-mold based or drawing lithography, have some problems such as the limitation of materials and aspect ratio of needle shape, also the waste of materials during the fabrication. In this work, we demonstrate a novel fabrication method using micro dispenser to substitute the conventional fabrication method. By using micro dispenser, simple and continuous fabrication process as well as reduce the material waste during the mass production can be achieved. We achieved the micro-needle whose height is from 300 μm to 600 μm while the tip diameter is around 50 μm. It is expected that uniform dimensions of micro-needles can be achieved by adjusting experimental parameters. We expect that our fabrication method using micro dispenser can be used to fabricate various shapes and materials of micro-needle.
